Surviving the Writer's Apocalypse
Review of "The Painting of Martel" written by L. Bachman
In the era of the creepy clown, “The Painting of Martel” finds a comfortable spot on my bookshelf as both a creepy clown short story and a tale of obsession turned fatal. L Bachman weaves a fantastic story that will make you reconsider how much time you spend devoted to your hobbies.
“The Painting of Martel” revolves around Damon, a man who begins to obsess about a serial killer by the name of Martel. Martel is similar to John Wayne Gacy in the way that they both dressed up a clowns. The difference is that Martel is sorta a more Vigo the Carpathian than Gacy.
If you are a Stephen King fan and you enjoyed reading "IT" then you will love reading this short story. Both King and Bachman have this way of drawing you into the narrative and keeping you there.
If you enjoy being unable to sleep because you’ve read something scary then go read “The Painting of Martel” and make a pot of coffee while you’re at it. It’s going to be a long night.
